In Life Management, Managing Priorities, Relationship Building

A couple weeks ago, I blogged about how our online addictions can be detrimental to building relationships. Last week I learned about a small group of individuals who also recognized the need for more human connection and decided to do something about it. With a mission to bring people together at a time when we’re so distracted by technology, a Dutch group of millennials has found a way to help people foster deeper connections and make meaningful memories.

This group came up with an idea to make a homemade Christmas gift. It had to be something that would be remembered and that would make annual holiday gatherings even more special. They created a handwritten card game with questions such as “Who would you like to thank?” and “What is one of the most valuable lessons you have learned?”

After a positive response from friends and family, they decided to start a crowdfunding campaign so they could make the game available for online purchase. Their company name is Vertellis, which means ‘tell me more’ in Dutch. The game is played with friends, family, or colleagues and is designed to be played every year during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or casual get-togethers.

Within just a few months the card games were sold out and they were struggling to meet the growing demand. Since then, the game has become an essential part of many holiday dinners in the Netherlands.

The Vertellis team decided to take their idea global and they started offering their card game to help even more people outside of the Netherlands to experience great moments with family and friends.

Although I rarely promote product sales, when I learned about this wonderful game last week, I felt prompted to share it with you. Although I am not affiliated with them in any way, I want to get behind the great work this company is doing. They’re making a positive impact in the world by facilitating meaningful conversations and building better human connection.

Through questions that trigger memories and stories, you will get to know those closest to you in a new and deeper way. Winning isn’t the goal with Vertellis. The idea is to have meaningful offline conversations with your loved ones and experience even more togetherness.

Wouldn’t your holiday gatherings be even more meaningful to you with more human connection?  If you’d like to check this out, visit vertellis.com. I’ve already ordered a couple sets of their cards to enjoy with my family this holiday season.

Whether you purchase any of the Vertellis products or not, I encourage you to think of meaningful questions you can ask others as you gather for holiday meals – questions designed to foster deeper connections with those you love.
