The
perhaps list takes the place of a "to do" list
(which I call a "do-do" list). The perhaps list
is different from a to-do list in the following ways:
- A
to-do list infers that you already have
intent to do it, and a perhaps list infers
no commitment. It is a place to park your ideas
-- not necessarily a commitment to do the activity.
- It
represents ideas that perhaps you will do this
week or perhaps you will do another week
-- even if you are committed to doing the activity,
it does not lock you into doing it today.
- The
perhaps list is organized by your key roles,
which are developed to implement the weekly planning
process outlined on this web site. A to-do
list is one long list with no order of priority
and no way to select activities in a balanced way
that supports your multiple key roles.
My
perhaps list is kept on my computer and I make frequent
additions and deletions. I review it when I do my
weekly planning. Below is an example of what a perhaps
list looks like.
